Disney hosted an event yesterday during which they teased the audience with tidbits of their movie plans for the next few years. It looks like Mickey has a lot of goodies up his sleeve or, since he doesn’t usually wear sleeves or shirts for that matter, down his glove. It looks like G-Force is a go! There was also an announcement of a Tim Burton adaptation of “Alice In Wonderland” starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Depp will also play Tonto in a Lone Ranger project and revise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for another Pirates movie. Other sequels include a third National Treasure movie and Cars 2.
Of all the sequel news the one that got me most excited was the trailer for Tron 2! Jeff Bridges is back inside the mainframe and he looks old and pissed off! The original Tron, which had me using a frisbee as a disc weapon when I was a little kid, featured some of the most cutting edge special effects of it’s day so you can just imagine what they should be able to do with this film now. Finding this trailer Online is hard — don’t be fooled by the YouTube video “Tron 2 Comic Con 2008 Full Screen Exclusive!”. It’s just some fat old guy posing to Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up. It’s actually pretty funny so I’m including it below. If you want to see the real Tron Trailer, you can check out a crappy bootlegged version from yesterday’s event by visiting Gizmodo.
